The snow isn’t here yet, it’s just miserable and grey. So let’s escape into summer with these inspiring pictures of gardens, terraces and patios.

Or maybe we should contemplate moving to the Southern Hemisphere. I once knew a university professor who was teaching in Brazil September to February, London March to June and spending the summers in Italy…
Let me tell you its summer well and truly down here.
That’s right, make me envious…!
It’s not even that I hate winter – on the contrary, I’m keen on winter sports. But this is just November weather – fog, damp, heavy clouds and a cold that really gets through all your layers of clothes, skin and bones.
We have been having hot days, hotter days and very hot days. Give me some cool.
Clever professor! Thanks for brightening up a dull December British morning.
These pictures just made me incredibly jealous! I do like the professor’s thinking though – an ideal life. Assuming, of course, you had, or could get, somewhere nice to live in each place!
Marina Sofia – Those are just lovely ‘photos! I think I like the rooftop garden best, but any of them would be great.
I’m with Margot – the roof garden for me this week, please. In fact, anywhere where daylight lasts for more than 6 hours would be good…
