New Year’s Friday Fun: The Year of the Chateau

I start the year as I mean to go on: planning my move into a wonderful chateau complete with delectable grounds. Here are a few to set you dreaming as you digest all of the rich holiday food!

Happy New Year, everyone! Here’s to an excellent 2015 for all of us! I will be travelling for work over the next 10 days, so I won’t be around much to either blog or comment or tweet, but thank you for your support and fun interactions over the past 2-3 years and I hope there is much more fun to come.

  1. So, are you planning to move into just one of these or to own the lot and flit from one to the next as the whim takes you?

Happy New Year, and safe traveling.

  2. I have visited the Château de Flechère in Ain… Lovely place. The upstairs had a large room with 18th century wood pannelling. Stunning. Some of the other rooms at the time (some 8 years ago?) had been stripped down to original frescos. They also still had the old style kitchen with large cooking fireplace in the basement. I am not sure of the extent to which that place is “live in” ready but one can always dream of such grand places…

  3. I quite fancy the one in the Rhone-Alpes region – that’ll do nicely for me. Wishing you a Happy New Year, Marina. Safe travels over the next ten days or so,

  4. I’m with the moaty one too – keep the peasants out! I assume you’re travelling to view each chateau before you purchase the one of your choice?! Anyway, safe travels, all the best for 2015, and look forward to hearing from you throughout the year!

  5. Happy New Year! If you haven’t read it already, I strongly suggest William Maxwell’s delicious novel, The Chateau as something for your consideration in 2015!
