We’re having such a heat wave that the thunderstorms typical of the Lake Geneva area have been rendered toothless. They hardly dare to make an appearance and never seem to cool down the sky even at night. So I had to turn to basements and water features in gardens for any hope of coolness… Thank you to Emma from BookAroundtheCorner for the suggestion!

And if the lack of natural light gets to you after a while, here are some refreshing exteriors.

Or perhaps a combination of the two?

That wine cellar!! (It’s Friday, my mind always turns to wine on a Friday)
Glad to hear I’m not the only one – although, in this weather, my mind turns to wine (especially rose) every other day as well…
I know what you mean, I just didn’t want to admit to it… š
Stunning!
Those are very beautiful – but with my claustrophobia, I would have to opt for the Japanese garden – which I *love*!
I’m a bit claustrophobic as well, so couldn’t deal with a room with no natural light – but just imagine a writing shed in a Japanese garden, next to a water feature…
Oooh yes – lovely!
That wine cellar is extraordinary! I hope you find some relief from the heat, Marina. Not something we have to worry about here in the UK this week.
At least no heart attacks at Wimbledon – and no interruptions because of rain, either…
Oh, these are all inviting , Marina Sofia! š – I do have to say I love that wine cellar! Perhaps that could be connected to that lovely entertainment room for full comfort…
Not a teensy bit greedy, are you…?
š
I can’t believe you did it! Thanks for the link to my blog.
I’m greedy, I like the combination of the two: water and cool but I’m attracted to the Japanese gardens as well.
Thank God it’s cooler now, Tuesday was terrible.
Your wish is my command! Yes, Tuesday was the worst day: and the day we had guests over and were trudging through the sun between all the various buildings at CERN to show them around… We all melted.
Beautiful shots. And so fresh-looking! š
Greetings from London.
Cool ideas and just in time, Marina…heat wave coming to our corner of Iowa this weekend š
Oh, dear, hope you stay safe, cool and hydrated… good excuse to stay in and read, in my opinion!
