Friday Fun: Cooling Down in Basements and Water Gardens

We’re having such a heat wave that the thunderstorms typical of the Lake Geneva area have been rendered toothless. They hardly dare to make an appearance and never seem to cool down the sky even at night. So I had to turn to basements and water features in gardens for any hope of coolness… Thank you to Emma from BookAroundtheCorner for the suggestion!

And if the lack of natural light gets to you after a while, here are some refreshing exteriors.

Or perhaps a combination of the two?

  1. Those are very beautiful – but with my claustrophobia, I would have to opt for the Japanese garden – which I *love*!

    1. I’m a bit claustrophobic as well, so couldn’t deal with a room with no natural light – but just imagine a writing shed in a Japanese garden, next to a water feature…

  2. Oh, these are all inviting , Marina Sofia! šŸ™‚ – I do have to say I love that wine cellar! Perhaps that could be connected to that lovely entertainment room for full comfort…

  3. I can’t believe you did it! Thanks for the link to my blog.
I’m greedy, I like the combination of the two: water and cool but I’m attracted to the Japanese gardens as well.
Thank God it’s cooler now, Tuesday was terrible.

    1. Your wish is my command! Yes, Tuesday was the worst day: and the day we had guests over and were trudging through the sun between all the various buildings at CERN to show them around… We all melted.
