Some grand old manor houses look good by day or night, and here are some which would make a great backdrop for a film or a book. Any additional suggestions of appropriate films or books would be much appreciated.

(and here’s the rest of my comment!) I’m still reeling at the thought of Tintin getting married at Captain Haddock’s chateau – what would Snowy do? How would the Captain cope without him? Unthinkable!! 😉
Oh this is so so hard, but I think Deneuve shows she is a woman of impeccable taste. It may be (a trifle) smaller than some of the others, but it does look inviting. What are the chances of her doing a swap with a small flat in London – not forever, perhaps a year or so?
Those are just gorgeous, Marina Sofia! And you’ve absolutely nailed it as far as which films could be shot there. Of course, if anyone wants to make a film at that chateau in Provence, I’ll have to give my permission, as I think I may have to take up residence there… 😉
Before i get carried away and rush to the nearest estate agent, I must remember that these places were built before central heating and indoor plumbing….
Such a striking shot of that last one with its mirror reflection in the lake.
I know, I wish I could take pictures like that…
Lovely

Well, I think we all know that is not likely to happen. Now, the Captain might have a wedding…
Yes, that 4th one is very Gatsby-esque, especially at night. Ch Pichon Baton looks stunning – their wines are rather lovely too.

The Rouen one for me please, and for a book I suggest my autobiography… *sighs wistfully*

And expenses for upgrading and maintenance are probably sky-high, sigh 😦
Omg. SO beautiful. I kept imagining getting married in a place like that (why just Tintin?) which is weird because I already am. 😀
What a great post ! I am still imagining living in any one of these!
