Sunny spells announced today after yesterday’s stormy weather, but more grey bleakness still to come. So of course I cannot help but wish I were far, far away from it all, in one of these luxurious villas. (Small aside: have you noticed how most celebrity homes and holiday villas featured in magazines are rather tacky and over-decorated? It wasn’t as easy as you might think to find something appealing… even when money is no object.)
It’s the views which usually do it for me… Villa in Bali, from baliluxuryvillas.comFearless architecture also tempts me, villa in Camps Bay, South Africa. From paradizo.com.Another Balinese beauty, but this time the Zen qualities of the inner courtyard. From cuded.comPlenty of room to welcome your friends in a mass contemplation of the sea, as in this villa in Seychelles, from cuded.comThe swimming pool comes in handy if you want a quick dip without trekking all the way down to and up from the beach, as in this Mykonos villa. From 400 Holidays site.Villa in Chile integrated into the landscape, with a rooftop garden. From trendir.com
The final one is purely conceptual for the time being and might prove a little too much for my claustrophobic tendencies, but it’s the perfect desert island for someone.
Floating villa with underwater level, from Daily Express.
The South African one was the first to catch my eye, plus a Cape Town location is just so perfect… Yes, I don’t understand the compulsion for kitsch when you can afford something innovative and original.
SUCH a difficult choice this time. I can’t pick between Chile in the landscape and the weirdness of the floating one. IF the floating one were moveable, would it be too greedy to have both. I do know someone who lives in Chile, so perhaps I could sail the floating house to Chile and moor it, and walk up to the house in the landscape, and perhaps the Chilean friend could come to stay. I think the floating house perfect for when you simply must get away from everyone and everything. I do like the idea of simply sailing out of reach of annoying casual callers! (except turtles)
The floating one makes me feel anxious – James Bond, people with harpoons, deaths under water … oh dear! But I love the Chile one and the courtyard one …
Those are beautiful! Like you, I would struggle with the claustrophobia of the last one but I could live happily with all the others – for some reason the Chilean one is particularly appealing!
Oh, those all look so lovely, Marina Sofia! Just so beautiful and restful. I’m calling house agents right away, and I’ll see you in Bali. Feel free to visit any time…
I’m not so keen on modern architecture, but I could probably make myself comfortable in the Seychelles. I love the idea of the underwater room, though!
Although I love the idea of sitting outside in the balmy night and chatting till the wee hours, I know enough of those climates to know that the mosquitoes would be feasting on me, so…
I love that South African villa. Money rarely seems to combine well with taste as a certain ‘hideaway’ in Florida in the news at the moment suggests!

I can see you have given this one some thought! I do love serving my blogger friends an impossible choice or puzzle like this every Friday.

Yes, I agree, you’re quite the sitting bait in that underwater villa, aren’t you?

There’s a hobbit in all of us, perhaps, wanting to burrow into the ground to feel safe…

You might find me a very frequent visitor!

I will gladly travel to Bali to take up residence in the first villa you show us.
I think if I got away to any of those I wouldn’t want to come back!
Oh my! Look at the last one. 🙂
