In a galaxy far, far away, before I had children and cats, I used to have a white sofa and I followed a blue/turquoise and white colour scheme. Now I can but smile at the uncomfortable lifestyle of people with white sofas – they clearly don’t sit on them much! Although each of the rooms below has something that appeals to me, for once I will focus on their flaws (sour grapes, anyone?).
The White House in a certain country may have become a laughing stock but white houses have undeniable decorative cachet.
Back in the days when I had complete freedom to decorate my house without fear of sticky fingers, a trail of breadcrumbs, opinionated non-decorators and generally messy family members, I opted for an all-white interior, with accents of blue.
Some might find white on white too cold and clinical, reminiscent of hospitals and canteens, but I long for those days of effortless simplicity. Classic, calming, bringing back happy memories of the sea and endless horizons… Holiday time!
